Designing learning and development programmes

Successful programme design requires a knowledge and understanding of organisation requirements and existing knowledge and skills levels. In combining the two to identify the best way to meet both employer and employee requirements, the input of managers and other employees should ensure there is organisational ‘buy-in’.

The choice of learning methods will also depend on such factors as organisation culture (including the roles, and seniority, of learners), the nature and degree of the learning needs, evaluation of previous learning interventions, and the costs and budgets available.
